Hymns

For whatever reason, I had lots of hymns running through my mind as I looked over these pictures. Warning: this is a marathon post, especially if you hum each tune!
"Give thanks with a grateful heart. Give thanks to the Holy One." This is a left-over photo from Paul's birthday last month from my mom.
"Jesus cast a look on me, give me sweet simplicity . . . Make me like a little child, of my strength and wisdom spoiled, seeing only in Thy light, walking only in Thy might."
"God be with you till we meet again; loving counsels guide, uphold you, with a Shepherd's care enfold you." All four of us received a great treat by getting to hang out with Bryan, Lisa, Caroline and Eli Owen one afternoon.
"Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world." I got to tag along on Micah's field trip to the pumpkin patch.
"The cattle are lowing, the poor Baby wakes, but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes. I love Thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, and stay by my cradle till morning is nigh."
"Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Him all creatures here below; praise Him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost."
"Dance, then, wherever you may be; I am the Lord of the dance said He, and I'll lead you all, wherever you may be, and I'll lead you all in the dance, said He."
"Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey." Paul is learning to trust Anthony and me. When he does, it is a lot easier for him to be calm, patient, and obedient.
"Come, ye thankful people come, raise the song of harvest home; all is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin; God, our Maker, doth provide for our wants to be supplied; come to God's own temple, come, raise the song of harvest home." Micah was thrilled to help Grandma pull "giant" turnips!"God bless America, land that I love, stand beside her and guide her through the night with the light from above." Even after standing in line for over two hours to unsuccessfully try and hear the future president Obama speak, Micah was still filled with joy.
"We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing" Our church fall festival is fun!
"Now thank we all our God with heart and hands and voices, who wondrous things hath done, in whom this world rejoices; who from our mother's arms, hath blessed us on our way with countless gifts of love, and still is ours today." I was proud of my friend Peyton, who created a wonderful festival feel!
"Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love; the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above." Paul and Noah were spiderman buddies. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness"
"All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voice and with us sing."
"Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, sun, moon and stars in their courses above join with all nature in manifold witness to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. Great is thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided; great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!""I sing a song of the saints of God, patient and brave and true, who toiled and fought and lived and died for the Lord they loved and knew . . . and I mean to be one too." Camille and Sylvan were two of MANY children who appreciated Paul and Micah's hospitality on Halloween. Our boys got excited about putting candy into kids' pails.
"Praise ye the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise Him for He is thy Health and Salvation! All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near; Join me in glad adoration!"
"Just a closer walk with Thee." All four of us hiked Lover's Leap in Hone Quarry.
"I lift my eyes up unto the mountains, where does my help come from? My help comes from you, maker of heaven, creator of the earth. Oh, how I need you Lord to come and rescue me."
"Standing, standing on the promises of God." On Friday, I took the boys on a 3.5 mile hike up and around Stony Man. Micah hiked the whole thing gladly (and even wanted to go a little further) while Paul was a good sport on my back. "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so."
"This is my Father's world, and to my listening ears all nature sings and round me rings the music of the spheres. this is my Father's world; I rest me in the thought of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; His hand the wonders wrought."
"O God our Help in ages past, our Hope for years to come, our Shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal Home!" This tree was the highlight of the day for Micah.
"Shout to the Lord all the earth let us sing, power and majesty praise to the King. Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of your name. I sing for joy at the work of your hands. Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand, nothing compares to the promise I have in You.""Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord to Thee." Here is our autumn home; I don't think I had blogged the new green paint we accomplished this summer.
"Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far too small. Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all." Our Japanese Maple tree brings many people joy, most of all Anthony!
"Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a right spirit within me." Paul went through one week of dumping toys and books (in the midst of us having people over every evening for 10 days), but thankfully he is through that struggle. "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me." George Lovell wisely suggested that I take a picture of our time out corner. Of all the numerous hymns about God's mercy and grace, what better hymn to put with this image than the chorus written by Sara-Beth's dad? "Spirit of the living God, Fall fresh on me. Spirit of the living God, Fall fresh on me. Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me. Spirit of the living God, Fall fresh on me."
So, there you have it. "This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long."
