Sam started loving balls. Even today, he crawls "commando-style," often while holding a ball or two in his hands.

Remember how I promised a picture of our finished garage project? Here is a start: the new roof and fresh paint; an actual garage door to replace the current plywood on the other side will arrive this week. I know that there are people who dedicate entire blogs to restoring old homes; that's not me. I'm in the business of making sure our third born has the start of a baby book!
Anthony and other friends from church helped the parents of one of Sam's best friends build a fence. Aaron is getting Charlie started driving early!
Sam started playing ball with his friend Charlie.
Paul started swing with his buddies Miriam and Ben. Paul has a big bandage under his chin because he and Micah had decided to use my razor to start shaving their chin hair that morning. Ugh.
Micah successfully started climbing a tree with our friends. Can you find Tyler, Janelle, Anthony and Micah?
In case you couldn't spot Janelle in the tree, here is my awesome friend starting to bond with Sam.We city folk walk or bike or scooter to the Farmer's Market at least once a week; Paul spent a lot of time early in the summer on his pedalless, two-wheel bike to start balancing. His chin shaving injury healed so quickly that I almost missed the chance to record it on film (I mean digitally.)
Every time I look at this photo of Micah making one of his specialties (cold cut sandwiches) it gives me a start to think of teenage Micah.
A highlight of June was getting to spend time with dear friends. Gloria, Martha and Noa are so precious that we are glad our kids are starting to remember one another from one visit to the next.
The sweet start of summer: Do you think this boy likes growing black raspberries? He is using my Grandma's method of tying the basket around his waist to free up both hands for eating -- I mean picking -- berries.
More memorable sights of the start of summer: brothers helping each other start to be brave enough to feed the arboretum turtles . . .
and brothers working together to start tackling dad.
My mom got two barn cats, so we couldn't resist going and visiting while they were still house kittens. Here is Blanche starting out as a barn cat.

For Samuel and the kittens, the excited curiosity was mutual. They both seemed Startled to have someone else on all fours.
Paul went to "summer camp" with one of his preschool teachers one morning per week to get him started playing with other preschool friends. Micah, Sam and I took the chance to do some hikes.
Finally, I have gotten started sharing our summer photos!
